Lindal was an Elf of Mirkwood who was amongst the guards that served under King Thranduil.
Born during the early centuries of the Third Age, Lindal was a member of the Pengwador and served as a loyal messenger to Elven King Thranduil of the Woodland Realm in northern Mirkwood. Lindal was the fastest, cleverest, and greatest of the elven archers that were assigned to the West March of Thranduil's realm. He frequently travelled between the Aradhrynd ("Halls of the Elven-king") and Lórien, carrying messages between Galadriel and Thranduil. Only during his latest journey had he ever been caught by the Orcs. His bow, stolen by his Orcish foes, was one of the few great bows of Doriath remaining among his kin. In TA 2941, when Thorin and Company traveled through the forest using the Elven-road, Lindal was amongst the elven hunters who captured the Dwarves, confiscated their belongings, and brought them into their kingdom where their king interrogated the Company and thrown them to their cells.
